With aging, we lose collagen in our face – a protein in the body that supports cell and tissue formation. Often collagen loss is seen between the nose and mouth, which causes the formation of “smile lines” (wrinkles) around the month.
Sculptra Aesthetic is an injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen, reducing the appearance of smile lines for up to 2 years.
Sculptra is made with a biostimulator material called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which stimulates collagen production to help restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles.

Sculptra induces inflammation & fibroblasts deposit collagen Type I & III & then the Sculptra particles degrade. This gives structure to the skin & corrects wrinkles & volume loss over time.
It is a synthetic Biocompatible, biodegradable, biostimulator immunologically inert polymer.
This procedure is performed on the face and neck.
Sculptra Aesthetic is injected deep into the nasolabial folds around the mouth. The injected poly-L-lactic acid is then gradually absorbed by the body to rebuild lost collagen in the treated area.
Sculptra is premixed with sterile water & anesthetics are added to it. It is injected deep above the bone with a needle & subcutaneously & subdermally with the cannula. This is a relatively painless procedure.
No downtime is required following treatment.
The most common side effects after initial treatment include injection site swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching, and lumps. Other side effects may include small lumps under the skin that are sometimes noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, some with delayed onset with or without inflammation or skin discoloration, have also been reported.
Post Procedure instructions :
You may need to ice for bruises & comfort. Tylenol is used for pain control. We discourage the use of anti inflammatory as this is the desired mood of action.
Massage 5 minutes ,five times per day for five days
Swelling for 24-48 hours when water, lidocaine, mannitol & CMC is absorbed. Itching ,redness.
nodule formation minimized by length of hydration protocol. Echymosis or injection pokes transient appearance ,occasional bruising
